What is Alternative Energy?

What are the Different Types of Alternative Energy?

There is a lot of energy that can be harnessed as we continue to do research and development using current day technologies. We can get away from the fossil fuels and the old electrical grids by turning to alternatives of these energy sources.

Wind power is a great source for alternative energy. Wind turbines continue to be developed that are progressively more energy efficient and less costly. Wind farms have been springing up in many nations, and they have even become more strategically placed over time so that they are not jeopardizing birds, as the former wind turbines did.

Solar energy is another alternative energy resource that is well known to us. This involves the manufacturing of solar cells which gathers and focuses the energy given off directly by the sun and then translates it into electricity or in some cases, hot water. Neither solar energy or wind energy generates any form of pollution.

Ocean wave energy is seen by governments and investors as having enormous energy generating potential. The generator that is located in France has been operating for years and is known to be largely successful and now the Irish and Scots are operating experimental facilities.

Hydroelectric power has been with us for a while, and wherever it is set up, it is a powerful generator of electricity and is cleaner than a grid. However, there are certain limitations due to the availability of the right places to set up a large dam. Several run-of-the-river hydroelectricity or localized hydroelectric generators have been set-up in recent times due to that type of limitation.

Another alternative energy source we have is Geothermal energy, this extremely abundant energy source is located just a few miles below the earth’s surface. This energy is produced by the heating of water through the actions of earth’s fantastically hot molten core. The water turns into steam, that can be harnessed and used to drive turbine engines that will generate electricity. A lot of research and development is needed in order to further our usage of geothermal energy tapping.

Waste gas energies, which are essentially methane, reverse the usual energy-pollution relationship by creating energy from waste that lies in the dumps and from some air pollutants. This gas is used in fuel cells and can be used in standard gasoline generators.

Ethanol is an known substitute for gasoline and can be created from things such as sugarcane, wheat, corn and even wood chips and wood cellulose. There is controversy over this fuel with regards to it ever becoming truly economical or practical except in very localized areas, however, technologies for its extraction and admixturing are continuously being refined.

Another energy resource is Biodiesel energy, which is created from the oil in plants. So far, the commercial stores of biodiesel have been created by using soybean, rapeseed, and sunflower oils. At the time of this writing, biodiesel is typically produced by entrepreneurial minded individuals or those who want to experiment with alternative energy, and there is commercial interest from companies also on the rise. Biodiesel will burn much cleaner than an oil based diesel.

Atomic energy is created in atomic energy plants using the process of nuclear fission. This energy is extremely efficient and can generate huge amounts of power. There is concern from some people about what to do with the relatively small amount of waste product atomic energy gives off, since it is radioactive and takes hundreds of years to decay, and no longer be consider harmful to our environment.

What's Green Living All About?

When you hear the term “green living”, you may get an image in your head of hippies living in communes making everything they use. Truth is:  the definition of green living has changed. The concept simply includes doing things to help the environment be viable for future generations. If you don’t feel like shedding your worldly possessions and living in a mud hut, here are a few steps you can take to make your life a little greener.

Buy local organic products. Organic farmers not only use little to no chemicals, they also take steps to reduce water and soil degradation, along with other problems caused by traditional agriculture. Grocery store vegetables have usually been shipped a long way, which causes environmental pollution trucks and planes. Buy your produce from a local farmer’s market or coop. If you can’t find one, start your own organic garden.

Use natural products. Household products that don’t contain chemicals are not only better for the environment; they’re safer for your family as well. You can make various cleaning products from stuff in your kitchen, like vinegar. If you don’t have the time, there are products you can buy. Just make sure they’re all natural and don’t just have a few natural ingredients.

Reduce. We’ve all heard the spiel about reduce, reuse, recycle; however, most of us focus on recycling and completely ignore the reducing. Try to use products that don’t end up in landfills like cloth diapers instead of disposables or regular towels instead of paper ones. Buying concentrated products or products in bulk also helps reduce packaging materials, production and distribution costs.

Reuse. Many people have gotten in the habit of sending their recyclables away in the bins, but there’s more supply than demand in the recycling market. That’s why it’s also important to reuse items if you can. Before you throw something in the recycling bin, consider whether you could reuse it for something else. Also consider programs like freecycle, Craig's list or garage sales which allows you to offer your gently used (or even broken) items to someone else. You really never know when your trash is someone else's treasure or learning tool.

Recycle. We should all have a recycle bin in our homes, but you can do stuff to recycle on your own. Make your own rich soils with a compost pile and you can recycle plants, shredded paper and uneaten bits of fruit or vegetables. You can also use products like shredded plastic bags to mulch your garden.  If you get creative, there’s lots of recycling you can do on your own.

Conserve Energy. There are so many things you can do to save energy. The big plus on this is that it also saves you money. Get low energy light bulbs for your fixtures. You could also take more drastic renovation steps by getting new energy efficient windows or installing solar panels. Even small steps like setting the thermostat a degree higher or lower or unplugging appliances not in use can make a big difference. A big way to conserve energy is to get a more fuel efficient car, or get rid of your car altogether. If you don’t need a big SUV, then don’t get one. You’ll be doing the environment a big favor.

Teach your children. You might not be able to change the world on your own, but you can start a trend by teaching others to be more environmentally friendly, starting with your own kids. Make sure your children know what steps you are taking to improve the environment and why. And most importantly, make sure you are all doing all you can for a sustainable future!

Volunteer Work Abroad Have Some Cons

volunteer work overseas

There are many people who claim that being involved in a volunteer work overseas opportunity has the potential to be one of the greatest experiences of a person's life. In almost every instance, a person returning from their volunteer work abroad stint has wonderful reports about how gratifying and rewarding it was to help people of a different country and culture. They also speak fondly of the opportunity to meet and work alongside of the other volunteers who were likewise moved by the experience.

For the most part, people who engage in overseas volunteer work typically have to pay their own way in order to have the opportunity to serve. At first glance, that can seem like somewhat of a contradiction in terms. Many people think that if they are giving up their time and their talents to a nonprofit voluntary charity organization, then they should pick up the bill to get the volunteers to their work stations overseas and to pay for their housing and incidental expenses once they are there.

In many cases, the organizations that are coordinating the volunteer work abroad programs have accommodations for the volunteers. Some of these arrangements are either at a low cost, and in some instances are even free. Sometimes the charity group is also successful at making agreements with an airline so that the volunteers can get a deep discount or a free ticket, which in turn serves as a charitable contribution to the organization.

However, it should be noted that every volunteer who works abroad is unique and the circumstances can vary considerably from location to location, and from one voluntary charity organization to another. For those who are planning to do long-term charity volunteer work, they can contact a specialized placement organization that provides placements for volunteers in various types of host organizations, such as schools, orphanages and even wildlife refuges. The volunteers usually pay a fee to the placement group, which then coordinates details of room and board, and training. Such organizations do have administrative costs and that is what the fees cover.

There are also many volunteer organizations that will coordinate more closely with the host country or the charitable organizations in that country. They undertake coordinating the service projects in total rather than only placing volunteers. The fees incurred are additionally used to directly support the funding of the service projects, or to make a donation to a partner organization that is involved in the charity work abroad.

Some people are still left wondering why those who are willing to donate their time and effort need to make financial contributions to the voluntary charity organization. The fact of the matter is that these organizations work with very limited resources and staff and many are dependent on the international volunteer force to function. This can actually make the volunteer experience even more meaningful, worthwhile and rewarding because if there were no overseas volunteer work force there would be much less important work being done around the globe.

The volunteers who travel to distant lands in order to engage in volunteer work abroad are generally not going to be replacing any of the full-time staffers of the voluntary charity organization, since most of the volunteers are temporary and they are not trained. But, the work of the volunteers is still incredibly beneficial to the charitable agency and greatly appreciated.

Pros And Cons Of Military Intervention

response to intervention

Some historians say that the United States military intervention strategies date back to 1898, when the Philippines, Cuba and Puerto Rico were seized from Spain. The US intervention in the Cuban-Spanish-American war was against the will of President McKinley, but was largely driven by Congressional desire to acquire Hawaii and Cuba. The ambassador of Spain called McKinley "weak" in a private letter that was published in the news. Public opinion was further swayed by media reports that the Spanish government was behind the explosion of the USS Maine in the Havana Harbor that killed 266, despite adamant denials. After a military intervention, the US acquired Cuba, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico as protectorates. This set the tone for US further military interventions, which some say is a misguided solution that has led to unfavorable opinions around the world.

"We stand at the armagaddeon and we battle for the Lord," Theodore Roosevelt yelled from the platform. He continued, "This country belongs to the people. Its resources, its business, its laws, its institutions, should be utilized, maintained, or altered in whatever manner will best promote the general interest." The case for military intervention was to protect America from selfish interests. With American businesses opening up overseas, there was always the danger that the host country would rise against Americans overseas, thus jeopardizing American investment. This argument would be echoed by subsequent presidents as an excuse to invade the Middle East.

The cases for non intervention are multitudinous of course. "The great rule of conduct for us, in regard to domestic nations, is in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible," George Washington said in his farewell address, adding that America had no business in Europe's affairs. In 1823, President James Monroe added, "In the wars of the European powers, in matters relating to themselves, we have never taken part, nor does it comport with our policy, so to do. It is only when our rights are invaded, or seriously menaced that we resent injuries, or make preparations for our defense." Critics of US military intervention argue that these actions do more harm than good, place governments in a state of disrepair, are fueled by selfish "Manifest Destiny" and create a negative response to intervention and a negative perception of America around the world.

It's grown increasingly difficult for the US government to justify military interventions, given the statistics. In Iraq, over 100,000 have died as a result of US bombings, invasions and occupations. In Somalia, 10,000 were killed by military intervention. In Vietnam, 3 million were left dead, with an additional half-a-million in Laos and even more in Cambodia. One million people were massacred in Indonesia and 300,000 in East Timor. The government President Clinton supported in Guatemala exterminated 205,000 people by death squad. These are only a few instances where US interventionist policy led to egregious consequences.

Kick Start Your Medical Career With Voluntary Charity Work

hospital volunteer work

There are several reasons why there are so many community members who take pleasure in doing voluntary charity work at hospital facilities in their community. One of the primary reasons is that working with adults and children who are ill or injured is certainly something that is a good use of the volunteer's time and it is rare when the needed attention and care that is given to patients is not very much appreciated.

In most instances, hospital patients feel somewhat trapped when they have to be in a hospital, and add to that the stress of dealing with their injury or illness. In such situations, these patients really appreciate the company and attentive assistance that community volunteer work participants are able to provide for them.

There are many volunteers who say that their favorite form of voluntary charity work involves working with children who are stuck in drab and dull hospital rooms. They find it particularly gratifying to bring a smile to a sick child and help to make their day brighter.

Hospital volunteer work with children also means that the volunteer is giving the parents of a sick or injured child a much needed break so that they can get a meal, take care of their other children or other responsibilities, or just take a few moments to freshen up. When parents have a sick child in the hospital, they often feel guilty even leaving the bedside for a moment. Yet knowing a friendly and compassionate voluntary charity worker is near at hand makes them feel more relaxed, so that they can also take care of themselves, which is also very important.

There is another reason why young people should become involved in volunteer charity work at a hospital. It can be beneficial to the volunteer, as they can list the charity work they have done on their resume or college application. Showing this evidence of being a caring person, who has been involved in summer volunteer work for teens in their community can help the volunteer get their foot in the door at a company they wish to work for or be accepted into a better quality of school. While this should not be the primary reason why a person volunteers to do charity work, it can be a very nice extra side benefit for giving up their time and energy to do charity volunteer work at hospitals.

For volunteers who would like to take advantage of that benefit, they should request a letter of recommendation from their supervisor who oversees the medical volunteer work. This recommendation can be kept and used for many years in the future for job and school situations and just having it in hand can make the volunteer feel they have contributed well and can give them an extra boost of confidence for their work well done.

Getting into voluntary charity work at a hospital facility can also be a really good way for people who are thinking about going into the medical field as a career to gain a lot of insights into various jobs in the medical area. Also, if they decide to pursue that type of career, it can be impressive to include the details of the medical volunteer work they have engaged in.

A Four-letter Word For Change:- V.O.T.E.

by Muhammad Sayyid

The right to vote is a privilege not to be taken lightly. Ask any convicted felon who has lost that right.  So it irks me tremendously when I hear entitled voters stating that they will not vote for whatever reason.  Voting privileges were won for the common citizen with tremendous hardship and those who have inherited this legacy must exercise it responsibly today. This is a sentiment that would undoubtedly hold favor with the survivors of the suffrage movements of the past.  To voluntarily refuse to vote in a national election should indeed be viewed as nothing short of betrayal and desertion of your country in its time of need.

WHAT’S AT STAKE?

Refusing to vote is a sure sign that a citizen is ignorant of the stakes involved in the elections process.  Democracy is defined as “government of the people (or Nation) by the people (or citizens) for (on behalf of) the people.”  In plainspeak that means the officials who run the affairs of the Nation are to be chosen by its citizens to do what is in the best interest of the people.  An election is the process by which these public officials are selected by the citizens.  Every citizen with the right to vote is required to have a say in the process.  Your vote is your voice.  It allows you to state your judgment as to the suitability of a candidate to handle the affairs of your country!  As such, you can grant or deny candidates the posts they are seeking if you believe that they are not suitable for such positions.  Remember, these individuals are seeking power over your affairs as well as the affairs of the entire nation.  Your vote gives them power to make far-reaching and binding choices for you.  Your vote gives them the authority to do whatever they deem fit with the resources of your country.  These resources also include the lives and personal property of every citizen.

PARTY CHOICES OR PERSONAL CONVICTIONS?

It is imperative that you do not lose sight of the issues involved in voting.  Every country that favors the “democratic” process uses the “political party” principle.  Sometimes, this enables unscrupulous individuals to hijack the government of their country. Candidates are presented for electoral positions from within opposing political groups with differing political positions and viewpoints.  These viewpoints, or manifestoes, represent the policies that will be implemented by officers of these groups if elected to national office.   It is the responsibility of each political group to present their candidate to all citizens in the most favorable light. This is done by ads and political spin-doctors. Despite the hype, it is still the responsibility of each citizen to intelligently evaluate the candidate and determine his /her suitability for the post.  The current habit of voting according to our “party” affiliation rather than our personal conviction has been responsible for all of the political disasters befalling our nation.  Bearing in mind the awesome power of a vote, every voter ought to vote their conviction.  Let’s face it, our party leaders can be wrong and often are. Because an individual is selected as the party’s representative in an election does not always mean he is the best person for the job.  When, as a citizen, you are confronted with the choice of a bad candidate, isn’t your duty to your country more valuable than your party loyalty?

ABSTENTION IS A VOTE

Whether or not you cast your ballot, a vote is always recorded in your name.  When an election takes place, every citizen is affected by the outcome, whether or not they personally participated.  No matter how much you gripe afterwards, the election results will not be overturned because you did not cast your material ballot.  Those who do not physically participate in the process are considered as being satisfied with the incumbent administration.  Therefore, they are viewed as having voted in favor of the current administration.  It is only those people wanting to affect the outcome of an election who participate.  Non-participants are viewed, not as protesters, but as supporters of the current administration.  The most effective way you can express your opinion about your nation’s governance is through the power of your ballot.  Your ballot can stop the wrong person from acquiring the reins of government and the purse strings of your nation’s economy.  Your tiny vote is huge enough to prevent the complete disintegration of your nation and your way of life. Your vote may be the one needed to break a tie and topple the administration you loathe so much.  You can moan, complain and gripe all you want about the lousy administrative policies of your current government.  Nothing will change until you cast your ballot in the electoral process in a vote to change the administration.  It is only the physical presence of your ballot that can affect the desired changes in your country’s administration.  So next time you are mad at your government, don’t withhold your vote, cast it!

Home Renewable Energy Systems

Traditional, fossil fuels like oil, coal and natural gas are a limited resource. As it becomes more difficult to detect and extract from the earth, the costs to the consumer are sure to rise. This trend will continue if more resources continue to be used. And there are potentially more telling costs that come with using fossil fuels. These fuels are though to be a leading contributor to our current environmental problems like global warming and may leave an uncertain world for future generations. So what other alternatives exist to using these traditional forms of energy generation. This article will cover a few of the alternative energy sources that are being touted as practical solutions both commercially and for the individual homeowner.

The first alternative energy source to be covered is solar energy. Many people are quite familiar with solar power and it is not uncommon to see many a neighbors house with a solar panel on the roof. Indeed, mankind has always used the Sun's energy since earliest times but only in the past 60 years has it developed to the extent that we are now familiar.

Currently we use the Sun's heat and light to get usable energy.

Heat energy provided by the sun is used for many things like heating water, heating a room or cooking food. As we can feel the heat provided to by the Sun, the inspiration for using it as a renewable energy resource was not a great leap. In reality, the Sun was used by many of these civilizations not only as an energy resource but also as a god, indicating the importance that they gave it.

Harnessing energy from sunlight is still a relatively new discovery by comparison. The photo voltaic cell (PV cell) is the technology that makes this happen. It was first used in the 19th century but only started being produced commercially in the 1970's.

The idea behind this issunlight gives the atoms in the PV cell enough energy to throw loose a spare electron. Many cells and more sunlight cause more electrons to flow. This is the principle of direct current (DC). Direct current can be used as is, stored in batteries for later use or converted to alternating current for use in homes.

Another popular option in terms of renewable energy is the use of wind power. I think this is because it is fairly well understood by most people as a concept. It may also be because plenty of wind turbines are popping up all over the countryside.

A wind turbine is a towering structure that uses the power of the wind to turn a number blades. The kinetic energy turns a generator that, in turn, creates electricity. Many developed and developing countires are increasing their production of wind turbines each year. They represent a clean and cheap way to create energy.

Wind turbines or mills are an option even in the suburban home and can be constructed quite cheaply. It is quite simple to build a windmill or turbine from scratch or a pre-built variety can be purchased. Before this is done, it is important to ascertain the amount of wind you get and have a clear unobstructed place for the turbine to go. You may also want to notify your neighbors that you are erecting a turbine as it could be an issue with some people.

Other systems use water as the primary source of energy, utilizing the kinetic energy to create electricity. This is hydro-power and a dam is an obvious example of this process in action. Geothermal energy can also be used to some extent. The idea behind this is to use the heat found in the earth core to heat water, much like a hot spring or spa, to use as it is or as an input to a generator.

Online Christian Counseling Degree

How to Earn a Christian Counseling Degree Online

By looking online you can research the locations and requirements for earning a Christian counseling degree.  You may discover that it is possible to earn degree from home.  Most online colleges are accredited and their degrees are widely accepted.  This makes it possible for an adult who has a job to earn their degree at their own pace at home.

Christian Premarital Counseling

Specializing in Christian premarital counseling is a calling that is very rewarding.  If you are considering this particular aspect of counseling it is important to include that in your educational goal.  Having that certificate or degree that is required by many counseling centers before they will hire you is adamant. Guiding couples through difficult situations, getting the center of their marriage to be God is so important.

Our World Today

There are many things to lure individuals into dangerous situations in today's world that lead to depression, addictions and financial woes.  There are more Christians today seeking Christian counseling than ever before and for so many different areas of life. Couples, singles, young adults, teens and even young children are suffering from anxiety and drug addictions.

Biblical Examples

In the Bible there are many examples of men, women, sons, daughters, kings, princes, and even the disciples falling into times of great trouble. There is the story of King Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel chapter four verses 31 & 33 describe his fall into mental duress due to the guilt of not walking according to God's commands. He had become self absorbed and egotistical.   4:31 "While the word was still in the king's mouth, a voice fell from heaven: 'King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you!  4:33 That very hour the word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar; he was driven from men and ate grass like oxen; his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds claws." He lived like this until he was directed back to the Lord.

If you receive well founded biblical advice and apply it in your life you should see results rather quickly.  Secular counseling would like people to come on a continual basis, sometimes for years.  Christian counseling seeks to set you on the right biblical course just a few sessions.

By taking heed to godly and biblical counsel you can turn your life around and begin enjoying your relationship with the Lord and serving Him to the fullest.  Let go of whatever is hindering you from moving forward.

Just like it says in Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar finally looked towards God.  His sanity returned to him and he was able to continue serving and praising God.

It is the job of a qualified Christian counselor with the proper training to redirect a person's focus off of themselves and back onto the Lord and what the Lord requires of them. As it says in verse 34 "his understanding returned to him." When a person is in deep depression or trapped in an addiction their "understanding" has left them. Even a son or daughter walking down the wrong path needs their "understanding" returned to them through Christian counseling.

It is important to be well equipped with the right tools to help those who are "wandering in the wilderness."  Having a solid biblical education and degree in Christian counseling provides you with some of the tools necessary, but the most important tool is receiving the call from God.

Discussing Motivators For Interventions

interventionist

Talking to alcoholics and addicts objectively is useless more often than not. Sometimes the substance abuser reacts angrily and storms off or will agree with the fact that his or her behavior is dangerous, only to continue doing it time and time again. Often people are powerless to stop themselves because that requires overcoming denial, eradicating the underlying problems they face, identifying inner characteristics that enable success and having the courage to find new coping skills. Interventions provide the much-needed helping hand for the alcoholic or drug user, offering a tool box of options to help the person move on from self-destructive behavior. A professional interventionist will personally invest him or herself in the substance abuser's life, providing counseling, resources and medical intervention if necessary.

To begin planning an intervention, family members and friends will assemble a persuasive team of people who are committed to seeing the troubled individual succeed. The group should consist of people who are capable of communicating in a non-accusatory, sensitive, honest and loving manner, who won't explode angrily or thwart the group's overall objective. The group members must be willing to voice their concerns, look the addict in the eye and say "You have a problem."

Commonly, interventions require each member of the group to read a paragraph expressing their feelings, so the team members must be prepared to do this. If the individual refuses abuse treatment, then the team members must be prepared to issue a decree stating the consequences and all people involved must remain firm. Sometimes this means refusing money, shelter or other enabling behaviors.

Change is often prompted by the inability to make any other choice. Many abusers, when confronted with the gravity of the situation will turn around, although most teary interventions are successful because the individual finally realizes the pain he or she has caused family and friends, or feels overwhelmed by the amount of support that has come together on his or her behalf.

Prior to interventions, the group must determine what sort of substance abuse treatment can be facilitated. Many phone calls will need to be made to determine how the treatment can be paid for, if there is availability and if it's the right approach for that particular individual. Most of the 10,000 alcohol and drug treatment centers in the US take the 12-step approach, like the one used at Alcoholics Anonymous, but other treatment centers may take a more holistic approach, a gender-specific approach or a religious-based approach. Some clinics offer hypnotherapy, group counseling, one-on-one counseling, skill assessments geared toward self-empowerment, anger management therapy, fitness/nutrition training and job skills assistance. Brainstorm to find the intervention plan that is most suitable and affordable.

The good news is that you do not have to plan interventions on your own. There are many community resources that are just a phone call away. A professional interventionist will discuss intervention programs and treatment options with you, help devise a successful intervention plan and arrange a meeting with the substance abuser. Sure, there is always the risk that the afflicted person will refuse the intervention, but the alternatives are far worse. Could you live with yourself knowing that you did not do all that you could do?

This will save you time dropping off resumes at locations that may not be well suited for you.

Before the Wedding Invest in Christian Premarital Counseling

For a Christian couple choosing Christian premarital counseling over secular or worldly counseling is a "no-brainer" so to speak.  Christian premarital counseling is biblically centered and touches on almost any situation that could arise in a marriage.  It provides practical, well tested advice and essential methods of dealing with everyday life.

Christian Marriage Counselors

A couple may feel they are facing insurmountable problems and want to end the marriage.  There are many Christian marriage counselors readily available to help you overcome these problems and save the marriage.  Unless there has been abuse or your spouse has been unfaithful and unwilling to repent, your problems can be faced one by one and solved.  Seeing your marriage through God's perspective is the only way.

What Was The Princess Diana Charity Work All About?

UK charity jobs

The shy schoolteacher who became engaged to Charles, Prince of Wales, was quickly thrust into the spotlight until her untimely death in 1997; all eyes were on the doings of Princess Diana. During the sixteen years between her royal marriage and her passing, she became one of the most liked and highly regarded of the royals. When she passed away people all around the globe mourned the loss, almost as if they had lost a cherished friend. In many ways, Diana's presence is still felt through the many Princess Diana charity work programs that are still underway.

When Lady Diana Spencer married Charles, the heir to the throne of Britain, in 1981, her life was forever changed in ways that she surely had never even imagined. It was in 1987 that voluntary charity work seemed to take on a more important role to her. It was at that time that Diana participated in the opening of a hospital ward that was dedicated to AIDS patients. People from around the globe were in shock when they saw that she chose not to wear protective clothing because the common belief, at that time, was that AIDS could be spread by casual contact.

In a way, the Princess Diana charity work that she later became recognized and acclaimed for was launched on that occasion. Even though many were unsure of the appropriateness of the Princess being so closely involved with an AIDS charity, including the Queen herself and the royal advisors, in a sense the debate seemed to make her even more resolute in supporting the AIDS work, as well as other charity volunteer work programs.

Soon enough, it was not only the AIDS hospital volunteer work that gained from Princess Diana's awareness and ministrations. Diana became the royal patron of no less than seventy different volunteer charity agencies and in short order had a packed schedule to try keep up with all of them. At first, the needs of babies and child welfare received most of her attention, but it was not long before Princess Diana took on many other dimensions as she discovered other opportunities for volunteer work London and through the British Empire.

After the AIDS cause, the volunteer charity organization that Diana became most closely aligned with was a group called Birthright and she soon became a patron of the group. Birthright is an organization that functions as the appeal department of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The mission of Birthright is to do significant amounts of fundraising to support research of the common problems of unborn children, including occurrences such as stillbirths, infant deaths and the complications of infertility.

Princess Diana's tireless work on the behalf of numerous voluntary charity organizations helped to throw a spotlight on many of the issues that were being addressed by international volunteer work programs and was instrumental in helping to encourage people around the globe to donate of their time, skills, effort, and money to good causes. Princess Diana did much more than just raise funds for various charities; she compassionately served those in need and inspired countless people to follow her lead.

"There is something quite moving about the way she talks with patients. Not only is she concerned about their problems, but they know she is. She understands the joy of having a baby and the anguish if something goes wrong. She felt very lucky and privileged to have had two healthy children, says Vivienne Parry, one of the group's national organizers.

Princess Diana had a strong determination to help charities that had been rejected by others, and her efforts extended to charity work overseas as well. Touched by the awful effects of leprosy, Diana became a patron of the Leprosy Mission. She was admired for the way that she not only shook the hands of those with leprosy but also would sit with them on their beds and visit with them like an old friend.

During the all-too-brief duration time that Diana was with us, the Princess Diana charity work that she championed was an unmistakable signal to others that people should have no compunction about serving those who fall victim to diverse diseases and illnesses. Diana led a life of grace and compassion that was a beacon to many in showing others how to serve those in need and her contributions to charity work will not be forgotten any time soon.

Is An Intervention Program Advantageous?

Violence Intervention Program

In some cases, intervention programs provide a fresh perspective on one's life that can lift someone out of depression, anger, abuse or other self-destructive patterns. In other cases, an intervention program is a way of training family members and friends to care for someone who has autism, inhibited development, hearing loss or another physical affliction. Unfortunately, we aren't born with all the answers to life. We can, however, acquire them through a little bit of bravery and a lot of follow-through.

The most common type of intervention programs are for drug and alcohol abuse. It is nearly impossible for a chemically dependent person to step outside of his or her addiction and begin living a healthy life, without either hitting rock bottom or becoming far-removed from stress factors. With the help of an intervention specialist and support from loved ones, alcohol and drug interventions can be seen as "a new beginning" and gives the individual the "excuse" he or she needs to break free from controlling substances.

The success rate of substance abuse interventions is said to be around 90%. The abusers will learn more about the pain they've inflicted on their loved ones through family counseling. In a group setting, substance abusers can identify with others and understand that they are not alone, which will set the groundwork for self-esteem to grow. During one-on-one counseling sessions, the intervention plan is to identify obstacles to happiness, unearth the source of pain leading to the drug abuse or alcoholism, decide upon reasonable goals and develop healthy coping skills.

Another type of intervention program is for victims of violence. Each year, millions are impacted by domestic violence, with children carrying long-term scars that will manifest in various disorders, anxieties and maladies later in life. Intervention services offered by groups like the Center for the Vulnerable Child in Los Angeles offer medical and mental health services for victims of domestic violence, elder abuse, or sexual assault. Those who were abused, as well as those who have witnessed the abuse, may be treated. The Violence Intervention Program can assist with legal services, housing, transportation, mentoring, tutoring, foster care and psychotherapy.

When we think of intervention programs, we usually think of a person voluntarily choosing self-destructive behavior. However, there is another type of intervention program for infants with disabilities such as hearing loss, speech impairment, retardation or inhibited social skills. An Early Intervention Program is essential for these babies and their parents. Otherwise, infants and toddlers will have no chance at having a normal life or development. The program includes family support, instructing parents how to manage their responsibilities and raise the child in a nurturing environment. Additionally, parents are directed to community resources that will provide necessary support services. Health care and financial planning resources can also be facilitated. As a parent, don't feel you have to take this on alone!

Is Your Office Green?

At your home, you may have stopped using incandescent bulbs, you may have a low flow showerhead, you may have added more organic foods to your diet, and recycling may have become an ingrained habit.  You are doing your part at home to reduce your carbon footprint and keep our Earth green.

But how many of us are carrying that same concern into the workplace? How many eco-friendly office supplies do you use at work?

Using eco-friendly office supplies can save a business hundreds or thousands of dollars, depending on the size of your company. Here are eight ways to make your office a little greener.

1. Make it easy to recycle. Set up bins for various recyclables that you go through in any given day. You can recycle the paper you print on, your calendars and organizers, even the ink cartridges themselves.

2. Purchase items made from recycled material, whenever possible. It's easy to find post-consumber paper and other eco-friendly office supplies, such as printers made primarily of recycled plastic.

3. Opt for refurbished office equipment instead of always buying new. Expect savings of 20 to 30 percent on refurbished office equipment and even more if you buy it used. Most refurbished items still have a valid manufacturer’s warranty. Make sure to read the fine print before you finalize your purchase.

4. Waste not. Get into the eco-friendly office mindset by reducing your waste. Print and write on both sides of the paper. Print documents only when it's necessary to do so. Share PDF files, for example, instead of printing each document. Use email and bulletin boards to further reduce the amount of paper used for office memos. Scrap paper should be collected for recycling and not thrown away. And, whenever possible, reuse envelopes, boxes and packing materials.

5. Turn off your computer when you are done for the day. The few seconds it takes to boot up in the morning is well worth the electricity you will save by turning it off. You may be surprised to know that many office machines are continuing to draw power from their source, even when they are switched off. You can save energy by putting the office equipment on a power strip, so you can entirely switch off the electricity to the machines.

6. When you replace office supplies, do so with an eye toward energy usage. Switch a CRT monitor, for example, to an energy-saving LCD flat screen monitor. You'll save on energy costs in the long run.

7. Clean green. Don’t forget the cleaning products used in your office. You can "green" them too by using only non-toxic, biodegradable, natural cleaners. Depending on the size of your company, you might be doing the earth a favor to do away with Styrofoam or paper cups. Have employees bring their own glassware for coffee or water. For large office gatherings when it's not practical to ask everyone to bring their own place setting, consider compostable plates, bowls, cups, and cutlery. More major office supplies stores are starting to carry these items.

8. Start a Green Team. If your business is large enough to merit it, form a "green" committee to meet on a regular basis and brainstorm new ways to fill your workplace with eco-friendly office supplies.

Protecting the environment is important enough to be carried on anywhere we are, throughout our entire day, at work as well as at home.

When Bill proposed to Hillary

Over here in the United Kingdom we sometimes get to see the presidential debates and all the razzmatazz associated with the political system. Whatever people say about the Clintons i can faithfully say that over here in Cumbria many of us are proud of the Clintons. Why? Well in the heart of the Lake District is Ennerdale Water and it was here that Bill proposed to Hillary many years ago.

When you look at the beauty of the lake with its wild shores, rugged hills and rolling mists coming in from the sea then maybe like Bill we can think romantic thoughts and dream of a better future.

Ennerdale, like so many of the other lake district lakes is a deep glacial lake, to be precise 148 feet deep. It is two and half miles long and three quarters of a mile wide.

The water is unusually clear and as there is no road running alongside the lake it is also usually very tranquil.

The Forestry commission own a lot of the adjoining land and this has led to many conifers being planted adjacent to its shores. The Lake also serves as a reservoir for the coastal towns of West Cumbria.

For all you film buffs it is worth saying that the  closing sequences of the movie 28 Days Later (2002), directed by Danny Boyle, were filmed around the Ennerdale area, and include a sweeping panoramic view of the lake.

There is also a local legend worth narrating. In 1810, a large, mysterious carnivore killed hundreds of sheep in and around Ennerdale before it was hunted down and killed. The locals dubbed it the Girt dog of Ennerdale, though it bore the traits of both a dog and a large cat.

For both new and returning visitors to this beautiful area it is worth knowing about Willowbeck Lodge,it provides quality b&b very close to the lake district.

Black Swans, Lehman Brothers and what is the G to do ?

Reading about the devaluation of Lehman brothers, and the losses in security for their staff and shareholders i feel a real sadness for the illusions shattered, the plans dashed on the rocks of financial reality. How will they recover their salary and what happens to their pensions which might well be tied into the value of the firm.

Yet am i correct to be sympathetic here? Are there not better deserving causes and is it really not their fault anyway?

And what about the surrounding economy? Will the US Government bail out Lehmans? This quote is from the USA site for Yahoo:

If Bear Stearns went under, it could have dragged down a web of firms with which it did financial business. Fannie and Freddie together own or guarantee half the nation's mortgages. Their failure could have caused the flow of mortgage money in the US to freeze up.

But if these firms qualify for help, so might Lehman, as well as other financial institutions battered by the housing crisis, such as Washington Mutual, the nation's largest savings and loan.

Our recent holiday up in the College Valley was spent, when the rains were pouring down reading that excellent book by Nassim Nicholas Taleb called the Black Swan. There were several key points to come out of the book:-

  1. Our inability to account for the unpredictable.
  2. How  banks can make money year after year ...and then in just one year lose more than all the previous profits.
  3. How the cycle keeps on repeating itself.

So as i sit here, on a cold and rainy night thinking about the financial mess and what is still to come i can't help but think that there is nothing new under the sun and maybe i better head off to that well deserved holiday in central portugal :-)

Fundraising Jobs In Charity Organizations Can Be Enriching

charity volunteer work

There is more and more evidence all the time that people around the world are becoming more giving and charitable and have a greater interest in supporting a variety of voluntary charity groups in all parts of the globe. Because of this, fundraising jobs in nonprofit organizations are more available than ever and this is turning into a specialized career category unto itself.

In general terms of employment numbers, the nonprofit charity volunteer work arena has been responsible for creating many more jobs in the past several years than most of the other sectors in the US economy. This fundraising jobs development trend has involved a great number of people from a wide variety of industries and career fields, including many who have a great deal of experience and high levels of accomplishment in various business skills.

Many people are also moving to fundraising jobs in nonprofit organizations because they have had a desire for a long time to have a career that also benefits the causes and charity volunteer work that they believe in. Often people feel they are in a dead end job and would like to be able to focus their time, talents and energy in a type of work that can truly benefit others.

For people who are interested in making a career change by taking advantage of the fundraising jobs development movement, there are several things to keep in mind that can help you to get into a fundraiser job position that might just qualify as your dream job. One of the first things to do before pursuing a fundraising position with a charity group is to know exactly what types of charity volunteer work that you are most passionate about becoming involved in.

The most desirable candidates for fundraising jobs with nonprofit organizations are those who can speak passionately about the work of the nonprofit group they want to work with. Gain a deep knowledge and understanding of the cause that you have fervent feelings about, whether it concerns animals, the environment, health care, immigration, starvation, disaster relief, health care, or any other area that a voluntary charity work group is endeavoring to improve. The more you know, the deeper your level of conviction about the cause.

The next step is to carefully investigate those voluntary charity organizations that seem to share your concerns, vision and dedication. Start right in the town where you live and expand your research from there, going nationwide if you need to in order to find a match with your desires. These days, there are many online fundraiser job listings that are posted by nonprofit groups on large employment websites. Often these organizations also post their fundraising job development plans on their websites and if they don't currently have the right position for you, then you can bookmark their site so you can check on it regularly.

Doing some charity volunteer work for the voluntary charity you are thinking about working for is a very good way to get more familiar with the organization, the people who work there, and the integrity of the operation. Through your volunteer activities you can get an insider's perspective and also get an accurate idea of how you might fit into the organization long term. If you like what you see, then you will be able to make connections with people in the agency so that when an opening for fundraising jobs in the nonprofit sector opens up, you will most likely have the first crack at it.

Information About Ethanol Stock.

It was reported in June that ethanol stock was rising due to oil becoming more and more expensive, it was also reported that by mixing ethanol with gas made it cheaper. In fact, in the corn growing areas of the US filling stations are reporting that ethanol and gas blended fuel is selling at between seven to 10 cents cheaper than normal gasoline. As a direct result ethanol stock is rising.

Ethanol , which also goes under names of ethyl alcohol , and grain alcohol is a inflammable and colorless liquid , that as been used for making alcoholic drinks , medicines and colognes for hundreds of years. However , it has mainly been used in wines , whiskey and beer.

With the aid of better plant and technology with production of ethanol will increase, this in turn should help America to reduce their oil imports. Some of the major companies that are at the forefront of manufacturing ethanol and alcohol include The Andersons Inc, VeraSun, Xethanol Corp, Green Plain Renewable Energy, Archer Midland, Aventine Renewable Energy and Greenshift Corp.

The cost of producing ethanol as reduced due to better designed production plant , this and the constant increases in oil prices have made people in the US more aware of the advantages of using gas and ethanol blended fuels. As a direct result of this many companies have been attracted to ethanol stock as a means of making huge profits. In time , ethanol could be a major competitor to gasoline and therefore reduced the need for imported oil's. In order to help increase ethanol stock , researchers are looking for ways to produce ethanol from other parts of corn other than the starch.

The major ethanol production companies.

There are tax breaks for companies that blend ethanol and gasoline, therefore, major companies like Archer Daniels Midland who have ethanol stock could benefit considerably. The tax breaks at the federal level are $.51 a gallon for ethanol, with an extra 1.5 cents a gallon for companies based in Iowa. Therefore, major players like VeraSun and Archer Daniels Midland who have ethanol stock would definitely benefit from this sort of tax break.

For more information about ethanol fuel, check out our website at ecoholistic.com

Crops Worth 150 Crore Washed Away In River Kosi

Army personal have been deployed for search and rescue in the flood-affected areas of Bihar. Water level has receded at many places in Bihar and people have heaved a little sigh of relief. The crops worth rupees 150 crore have been destroyed in the recent floods and the agriculture has been a major sufferer. A senior agricultural officer of the state has told that about 1.25lakh hectares of land have been affected and the crop of maize and paddy have been completely devastated.

According to the reports from Araria, about 70 villages of Narpatganj, Raniganj and Forbisganj have been completely devastated. About 20,000 people are still stuck in the waterlogged areas of these villages. Officials say that about 25,000 people have been evacuated to safety. About 10 relief camps have been put up atNarpatganj, 2 in Forbisganj and 1 in Raniganj have been set up for the relief of flood affected people.

In spite of the thousands of cusecs of water being released in the river Kosi, the water level has receded at many places. Near Sonvarsha, the national highway 117 is still waterlogged. About 80% people from Supaul, Saharsa and Madhepura have been evacuated to safer places and the estimated percentage is around 80%. 456 boats are being made operational in Supaul, 157 in Saharsa.

While the floods have rendered millions homeless, the walls of communal hatred have all been broken down. The RSS activists in Saharsa are providing Iftaar to the Muslim community in the holy month of Ramadan.

Mohammad Salahuddin of Saharsa said that he has been here in the camp for the last one week. On the other hand, about 60 saints have taken shelter in a madrasa where the arrangements for them have been made. The Muslim teachers and students have not only provided them with food and shelter but also a separate place for worship. This is the bond of humanity and this natural calamity has helped communities to come closer to each other while many of them are still searching for their nears and dears.

Fundraiser Job Opportunities Bring Satisfaction, Gratification

voluntary charity

When people enter the field of fundraising for a nonprofit charity that they really care about, they are entering a field that is quite different from any other field they might have worked in. Taking a fundraiser job means that there will be mighty challenges to overcome. At the same time, if everything works out and the voluntary charity agency that you are working hard to support gets the much needed funds, then it can be one of the most satisfying work experiences you can have.

Being involved in making sure that a threatened species of animal is moved to a habitat that has been restored or prepared from scratch, or seeing the enormous smile of a little tike that receives a surprise Christmas dinner and gifts from Santa can make the fundraising jobs development work all extremely worthwhile. Having a chance to be involved with fundraising jobs in a field that you are concerned about or have a passion for will surely fill your heart and provide a level of job satisfaction that traditional careers cannot begin to compare to.

There are a number of fundraiser job opportunities these days, especially for people who have good telephone and people skills. This is because one of the most common and easy to get fundraising jobs in the US is as a telemarketer for various nonprofit groups. These telemarketing positions involve giving people a call on the phone to introduce the charity to them, or to inform people about events they can participate in, and to ask for donations to support the voluntary charity agency.

While many people love this kind of telephone work and the opportunity to talk to people from all over the country, fundraising jobs in the telemarketing field is an occupation that requires a thick skin. The fact of the matter is that many people don't like to receive any type of solicitation calls, even when it is about supporting charity volunteer work. However, there are also many opportunities for meaningful connections with the people on the other end of the line who stop to listen attentively and are inspired and moved by your conversation, especially if you have a passion for the voluntary charity organization you are working for.

A similar type of work is face-to-face fundraising. Fundraising jobs in this field will have you going door-to-door, or standing in areas where there is a great deal of foot traffic so that you can engage people in conversations about the charity work that your organization is involved in. In some instances, this type of fundraising job will have you staffing a booth at some type of voluntary charity fair or fundraising event. People involved in this kind of work also have to be thick-skinned and able to deal with a lot of rejection. But, meeting some caring people and helping to raise awareness about community causes can make the negative aspects more than worthwhile.

Other fundraising jobs in demand are those that will require you to use your organizational skills to plan special events and fundraisers for various charities and non-profit groups. This rewarding career allows you to be involved in all of the aspects of planning, organizing and running a variety of different types of fundraising activities. Some of these events include dinners, auctions and walks or runs, among others.

Online fundraising projects are also gaining in popularity and this has created another possible fundraiser job opportunity in the design, management and maintenance of the websites that explain the purpose of the nonprofit agency and gives people an opportunity to make donations. This type of job in the fundraising category would necessitate having skills in writing, web site design, and being experienced in a range of software programs. Regardless of your skills, talents and interests, it is more than likely that you will find some type of voluntary charity fundraising job that will be a good match for you.

Divine Intervention Can Come To The Rescue When Others Fail

intervention strategies

A divine intervention, also called a "miracle," is any inexplicable phenomenon that can't be explained by science and yields positive results. In some cases, patients are cured, even when a medical intervention fails. In other instances, droughts clear up, lifelong burn scars suddenly heal, Leukemia goes into remission, or previously sterile women have babies. Over the last century, there have been many well-documented cases of divine interventions that continue to amaze and inspire people around the world.

Janice Bender was told she had months to live, as the metastatic lung cancer spread throughout her frail body. A medical intervention like liquid morphine and chemotherapy seemed her only hope, but even those options had doctors shaking their heads, telling Janice's husband, Frank, that he had better prepare for the worst. So Frank quit his job as a sculptor, yet he did finish one task: resculpting the mask that lay over St. John Neumann's face at his public shrine in Philadelphia.

Father Kevin Moley came from the Church to see Janice and before leaving he placed a relic of St. John Neumann up to her forehead and said a prayer. Instantly, Janice felt a warm, soft feeling expand inside of her and over the next few weeks, dozens of tests confirmed the inexplicable: the cancer had completely disappeared! While they aren't particularly religious people, the Benders attribute the miracle to the divine intervention of Saint John Neumann. "Maybe St. John Neumann wanted this intercession as a gift to him," Moley said, commenting that the new face Frank sculpted was "perfect."

Father Baker is another source of divine intervention in the modern world. Before his death in 1936, he was a respected member of the Lackawanna, NY community, well noted as a protector, as well as an advocate for the rights and happiness of all people. He cared for abused, sick and needy children, first and foremost, but many locals recount numerous stories of the mysterious miracles attributed to this saintly man. Father Baker heard that there had been natural gas found around Buffalo, so he petitioned the bishop for money to dig a well. Despite his reluctance, the bishop agreed. Legend has it that Father Baker stuck an Our Lady of Victory medal into the ground, instructed them to drill in that spot, and the natural gas was found that easily! Additionally, he performed other divine intervention services: curing a girl in a wheelchair, a woman with a ruptured appendix, a man with an immobile severed arm and several people with severe burns. Strangely enough, three vials of his blood were found in his coffin as they unearthed it to move him to a new location, and the blood in those vials was as fresh as the day he had died! He has not yet been canonized as a saint, but locals often pray to Father Baker and find inspiration in their hometown hero.

For some people, divine intervention can be found in a church. For others, they need to make a long pilgrimage to one of the sacred sites in the world. Tarot card readers have become mainstream as people look for answers, direction and a sense of purpose. Meditation has grown in popularity in Western culture to help connect with a universal soul. When other intervention techniques fail, there's no harm in asking for assistance: you just might be surprised!

Serving Citizens Needs Via Community Volunteer Work

volunteer work abroad

In recent years it seems there has been a surge of interest about the different kinds of community volunteer work. There are many charity work voluntary organizations that do wonderful work in communities in just about every corner of the globe. There is sure to be at least one such organization that does the kind of work that you are skilled at or for which you are passionate about, therefore reaping many rewards for your service given.

Of course, you don't have to stay in your own community in order to get involved in volunteer work. There are hundreds of thousands of people each and every year who do volunteer work abroad and find that serving in other communities is very satisfying as well. Whatever your inclination is, in this regard, there are plenty of opportunities to do voluntary charity work in communities just around the corner or all the way across the globe.

Increasingly, people are combining their vacations to other lands with doing community volunteer work. Across the board, people who return from these types of overseas volunteer work vacations say that they had the most amazing experience and it was a trip that they will remember much longer than the shallow tourist vacations they have taken in the past.

In many cases, if people decide to do volunteer work during their vacation time, then it might seem that they are headed into some wonderfully exotic locations. There are many very humble and quiet volunteers who don't even reveal to people the true purpose of their vacation, but instead prefer to render their services without fanfare or pretension. This also means that instead of spending their vacation time in luxuriously appointed hotel rooms and sleeping in a soft bed, they are more than likely living in rather primitive conditions that don't include air conditioning, or even showers.

In many cases, these overseas volunteer work opportunities mean that the participants will be building houses for residents of extremely poor communities, or digging ditches to bring water to the community, or trenches and pits for improving sanitary facilities. This kind of charity volunteer work is not glamorous by a long shot and is indeed dirty and backbreaking and involves long days of sweat and toil. But for many people, they come back saying it was the most exhilarating and fulfilling time of their lives.

Not all volunteer work is backbreaking and punishing as described above. There are also opportunities for overseas volunteer work that involve working in health clinics, visiting families to provide vaccinations, teaching English, or teaching other skills, such as cooking and personal hygiene. This means that there is something for just about anyone who is interested in doing charity volunteer work.

There are numerous opportunities to get involved in community volunteer work, either locally or abroad, and a quick search of the internet will reveal many organizations that will be happy to accept your time and energies on their behalf. However, if traveling to another country is a problem, then there are always amply places where you can find voluntary charity work right in your own back yard.

Helping In Charity Work And Improve Your Image

volunteer work community

There are a great many people who come from various backgrounds and social-economic situations who feel that is a privilege to be involved in charity work. These are people who are anxiously engaged in doing good works by giving of their skills, experience and time to help support various charitable endeavors, such as hospital volunteer work, teen volunteer work, and many other types of charity volunteer work. In almost all cases, these dedicated people say that freely giving of their time and volunteering to help in whatever way they can is one of the most rewarding things they have ever done.

Getting involved in charitable work is an opportunity to support, encourage and even champion the specific cause that is being served by the voluntary charity organization. Through volunteer work community service you can help the charity that is most important to you and your family by the giving of your skills, your talents and your time.

There are those who have never been engaged in charity work. They sometimes look at charity volunteer work as just a task that requires a lot of sacrifice and they are unable to see what kind of value they will get in return. However, those who have actively been serving in the volunteer work community feel that they are the ones who get the most out of the deal.

Many people who get involved in volunteer work want to help a charity that is doing good works in an area they care about. They want to help out in any way they can; often being unable to contribute money, so they give their time in various aspects of charity volunteer work. This can be a very beneficial situation for both the charity, as well as for the volunteer. The charity receives the benefit of the skills and time of the volunteer, without whom they would have had to hire someone to provide those same services.

At the same time, the volunteers who work for their favorite nonprofit, charitable organization feel that they are contributing something significant and meaningful. They also have an opportunity to work shoulder to shoulder with other people who are also interested in the same cause the charitable institution is serving, while learning about the inner workings of such organizations.

When thinking about becoming involved in charitable work there are some things that you should keep in mind. First, you should think about your own skills and abilities and try to select a voluntary charity foundation that can best use your skills, so that the contribution of your time and talents is put to best use. The more highly skilled you are, the more value you will be providing to the organization, thereby saving them considerable sums of money by not having to hire a skilled person. In many cases, the value of the service that volunteers render is often far greater than any amount of money they might be able to contribute, if they had it to give.

When you are thinking about contacting a nonprofit or charitable organization to offer your services as a volunteer, you should first consider how much time you will be able to devote to the charity work of the group. While these organizations truly appreciate the efforts of volunteers, it is much more helpful to them if they know that every week you will be able to commit to a certain number of hours. Having a regular schedule that you can commit to is much more beneficial than if you just stop in to work for a couple hours on a hit and miss basis.

Christian Counseling Debt And What The Scripture Say

Christian Counseling Debt and The Bible

“Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.”  Matthew 18:27

Is debt biblical? It is not a sin to be in indebtedness but the Bible does speak a lot about being good managers of what we have been given. The bigger sin is being too proud to admit your condition and your current financial condition and look for help or advice. There are Christian counseling centers to help with Christian debt removal. The sooner you can get help the sooner obligations and debts can be controlled and brought under restraint. It is a humbling ordeal to go through, but others share this same experience. We learn from our our life experiences to better serve the Lord and to reinforce our faith. If you have a financial situation do not hesitate to look for Christian Counseling Debt because someday you may be able give spiritual or financial aid  to a fellow Christian, family member or co-worker.

“The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”
Proverbs 22:7

We are called to spend our money wisely. Sometimes we find ourselves in debt for perfectly legitimate reasons. There could be an illness, rendering you unable to work. In these precarious times, we are seeing more and more people being laid off or hours cut substantially. There are regular monthly payments that are due and we may find we do not enough to pay them. Sometimes credit cards are used to pay bills and the debt begins to build. It can become overwhelming and a Christian debt elimination service may be needed.

Pray First

"Listen to me!, you can pray for anything, and if you believe, you will have it." Mark 11:24

Take all things to the Lord in prayer.  Does this denote all things you pray for will be given to you?  The Lord always answers our prayers, but maybe not in the way we expect or in the time frame we want. Jesus prayed when He was on earth.  He prayed while in the desert as well as in the Garden of Gethsemane.  Jesus prayed that the cup He was about to partake of be taken from Him.  He still had to go through what He was sent to do, die for our sins and transgressions.  We may still have to endure some trials for the situation we are in, but He has promised to take care of us.

Find Adoption Records

If you are searching for adoption records, you may or may not have any luck finding them. It has a lot to do with what type of records you are seeking. If you are looking for records for those who are still alive, possibly even for yourself, you may have problems. However, if you are working on your family tree, you may be able to find things far back in your family line. Sometimes, these are easy to find, and other times, next to impossible to locate.

When searching for your own adoption records, you may have big problems. If you have been adopted privately though a lawyer, you may not be able to open those records. If you arenít sure where or when, but you really want to find out what they say, you can seek the help of a lawyer or even a private investigator, but you should know you may not find what you are looking for. There are some services online that can search for them for you, for a fee, but you canít be sure they will find anything either. However, they are something to try when all else has failed.

When it comes to genealogy, you are going to have better luck in some cases. There are many web sites devoted to this subject, and they do have some adoption records in their files. What you can find will depend on if the adoption records have been saved, and if they have been put online. There are times when files were destroyed due to fire, or were just misplaced, and if there were not copies, that information is going to be gone forever. There are also times when names are transcribed incorrectly, so when looking for this type of information, think of possible misspellings if you arenít coming up with anything useful.

Any time you are looking for adoption records, remember to give it some time. These are also something that can be a huge goldmine for someone who is tracing a family tree but has come up against a brick wall. The reason they may not be able to go back any further might be due to an adoption that was not otherwise noted. By going back and looking for records in an area of time period, a name may pop up. Many times this is the reason why some lines stop and no one can find information on the name. That is because the name abruptly changed.
